I am the owner and operator of Skyline IT Management. I am a sole proprietor. I do have teams I partner with different organisations for things like marketing or security and that kind of thing.
I was in technology in the 90s working for a company in their software. They had a software product but then left to stay on with my kids. So I originally just started an LLC just because I needed somewhere to put the checks to make it official and just worked that business very part-time while I raised my family, until my kids grew up and left, that is when I went to a conference for the first time, I'd never really been to a conference.
"I just have a more confident authority now and just drive things in the way that I know that they need to be."
And my eyes were open to the whole MSP thing, I had never even heard the term MSP until I went to that conference, and that was the first time that I got to experience the benefits of peers. And shortly after that, I went through a rebranding, but I rebranded to Skyline IT Management. Have been focused to small business and the cloud technology. I've grown a lot, I've learned a lot in these last few years that it's really about doing business with people that are like-minded as far as the values and the way that we like to do business.

When I first signed up for Tech Tribe, it was more for the peer thing and also the documentation. And really only, it's probably been in the last year or two that I've really taken advantage of a lot more that they had to offer in classes. The benefits that I've gotten out of the Tech Tribe, the most of it has been in the last few years, but that's also because I participated in those things a lot more. I would say just the tools and the value that comes through things like Growably that they provide, the social media posts.
My advice to an MSP that would be starting out would be to really engage with the Tech Tribe, especially in the forums, because there's a lot of knowledge there and it's an encouraging group. The environment that Nigel's established with the Tech Tribe, I feel like it's encouraging and I think we need that. Also, just to take advantage of the documents that are there, that you can really minimise the time that you have to spend on taking advantage of those. And Growably, now that there is a CRM there and everything that Growably has to offer.
Is just how I have changed and how I approach the business and clients. I just have a more confident authority now and just drive things in the way that I know that they need to be in me as a technology professional and the way that I'm going to do business, knowing that the things that I put into place, it's going to reflect on my business.
